About American Self Defense & Fitness Center
Since opening in 1992, ASDFC has focused on helping students build real skills through martial arts, self-defense, and coaching in a safe, structured environment.
We welcome all ages and experience levels, and we teach practical training that supports confidence, discipline, respect, and personal growth on and off the mat.
Founder & Head Instructor
Master Fred Bargiacchi
Master Fred Bargiacchi is the founder of American Self Defense & Fitness Center and a 4th-degree black belt. Since 1992, he has taught martial arts, self-defense, and character enrichment programs in Rochelle Park and throughout Bergen County.
He has actively taught in early learning centers and in private and public schools, with a long-term focus on helping children build confidence and self-esteem.
In addition to school and studio programs, Master Fred teaches the anti-bullying H.E.R.O. program (Helping Everyone Respect Others) for private and public school communities.
